I’ve had this domain for a long time, but for the past few years it has just showing a really bad personal website that I built in college. I want to repurpose this domain to be more “personal”. I want this to be a space where I can share things, experiment, and just play around.
My online persona (if you can even call it that) has fallen into a weird spot where I constantly show off things that I’m doing, but I feel as though I need to portray that I’m always doing well and that my work is impressive.
I hate this.
I want to share what I’m doing without judgement, both positive and negative. I want to share things I’m excited about even if I know nothing about it and I don’t want to be scared that I’ll sound dumb.
When there’s this self-imposed pressure, it makes things less fun and makes me reluctant to do things.
I just want to have fun again online and feel free to express my personality.
This blog is kind of the first step towards this mindset. I’m reviving alexanderqchen.com and it will start out as just a blog site where I will add content when I feel like it. I’ll keep all the styling bare bones for now, but over time, we will play around here and make something nice.
I hope in the near future, I will also extend this site to not just be a blog, but also a personal timeline, things I’m working on, and a place where I share things I’m interested in.
My goal at the end of the day is to make myself excited about coding again. I’m excited to build projects that are my own, just for the joy of it and not to fulfil a practical purpose.
That’s it for now, more to come soon.
